POSITION: Administration and Events Assistant
DEPARTMENT: LIFE Recovery Association Operations
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
ALLOTTED HOURS: 18+ hours per week
REVISION DATE: October 2021

MINISTRY CONTEXT

LIFE Recovery Association (LIFE) is a registered charity and Christian ministry that exists to support women in recovery from addiction. Employees of LIFE must agree with the Code of Ethics, Community Standards Policy, Mission, Statement of Faith, Vision, and Core Values.

JOB SUMMARY - PRIMARY FOCUS

The Administration and Events Assistant will support the communication, marketing, fundraising and operational needs of LIFE Recovery Association.

STATEMENT OF RELATIONSHIPS

The Administration and Events Assistant will work directly with the Executive Director, Program Administrator and Thrift Store Manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop a communication strategy for LIFE Recovery Association and LIFE’s Second Stage Thrift Store staff, volunteers, clients, customers, and donors using:

  • branded content

  • social media

  • newsletters

  • instructional signage

  • community outreach

Perform office administration tasks including:

  • updates to donor management database

  • maintenance of volunteer records

  • collection of statistics

  • preparation of correspondence

  • filing of records according to retention guidelines

  • inventory control and purchasing

Support events and fundraising including:

  • LIFE Recovery Association’s Annual Gala and Golf Tournament

  • development of new fundraising opportunities

  • membership engagement

  • attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities

  • other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of one (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Knowledge of alcohol & drug and mental health disorders would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of non-profit and registered charity best practices would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of thrift store and/or retail operations would be an asset.

  • Proficient with computer operating systems; social media, database, email, and office management software.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal with highly sensitive and confidential material and situations.

  • Accurate record keeping.

  • Knowledge and/or awareness of our community partners: local churches, businesses, charities, ministries, and donors.

  • Current Class 5 Drivers License (minimum)

  • Meet admission criteria for a variety of community settings (Vaccine Passport while in effect).

  • Sobriety of at least TWO years i.e., no abuse of alcohol, drugs, or other mood-altering chemicals.

  • Have a reputation of living a lifestyle that honors and glorifies God.

  • Must regularly attend and participate in their home church (Heb 10:24-25).
